Compro VideoMate E800

The E800 is Compro's PCI Express x1-based hybrid TV tuner. It's easy to install, has plenty of features, but its software still has many of the same quirks we've seen before.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4850e

The push for more CPU cores is all well and good for users who can't get enough power to run render their videos, but many of us don't need that much grunt in our PCs, especially for simple tasks such as loading music onto an MP3 player, browsing the...

Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H

AMD has launched a new chipset - the AMD 780G - to coincide with the release of its new low-power CPUs, and Gigabyte has put it to good use on its GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard. It's an all-in-one board - meaning it also has integrated graphics - and its...

Western Digital RE2 GreenPower (WD1000FYPS)

The main aim of Western Digital's GreenPower line-up of drives, is to reduce power consumption. Not only for mid-range capacities, but also high-end, and not only for standard drives, but also for RAID Edition drives. This might seem to be a hard thi...

Seagate Momentus 5400.4 250GB (ST9250827AS)

It doesn't quite match the largest capacity on the market for notebook-sized drives (its drives sport capacities from 120-250GB), but Seagate's Momentus 5400.4 range offers plenty of advanced features and, best of all, a five-year warranty should any...

Netcomm NB6Plus4W

At the heart of it, the NB6Plus4W is an ADSL2+ modem with an 802.11g wireless access point and a 10/100 Ethernet switch. It's very easy to get up and running, even though it doesn't use Netcomm's traditional Web interface design, and, physically, it'...

Dynalink RTA1046VW

Dynalink's ADSL modem/router means business. And you quickly get a sense of that when you pull it out of the box. Unlike many of today's modems and routers, this one is large, plain, and solidly constructed. It doesn't rely on pretty-boy looks to get...

Alternative HD disc formats

After a short-lived career, HD-DVD has been retired by its proponents as a storage medium for high-definition movies. The format lost support from the major movie houses, which chose to support Blu-ray instead. But HD-DVD and Blu-ray aren't the only ...

BenQ Joybook R43-PV03 (9H.0ESP.V03)

The BenQ R43-PV03 has a lot going for it: it's inexpensive, ships with a dual-core CPU, and sports a good-looking 14.1in screen. At 2.3kg, it's also easy to carry, and a decent choice for anyone who wants a machine for school, work or home use.

NEC Versa P9120 (2401DR)

Amongst its notebook peers, this 3.5kg Versa is an impressive physical specimen that has plenty of substance, too. The big 17in screen, the full-sized keyboard and a wide gamut of connections are just the start, for, on the inside, this desktop repla...

Acer TravelMate 7720G (7720G-602G50Mn)

It's funny that Acer has decided to release this desktop replacement notebook with the TravelMate name, because, unless you're Yao Ming's size, this thing is far from a 'mate' when you travel. In fact, at 3.8kg (without its power supply, and 4.3kg), ...

Intel Nehalem

Take a sneak-peak at Intel's next generation CPU, which looks like it will be a monster, on paper at least. Taking a leaf out of AMD's book, the new CPU brings onboard its own memory controller, it embraces a three-level cache, and the front side bus...

Linksys WRT160N

A fast and far-covering wireless N-based router doesn't have to cost you a lot of money, just look at Linksys' example. The company's WRT160N is one of the slickest-looking and fastest wireless routers on the market, yet it costs just $169.

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router

The DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router is primarily aimed at gamers who want fast networking with priority given to gaming traffic, but it's a decent router for anyone who wants the latest and fastest in wireless technology.

NetComm NP200AV

Using Ethernet networking to set-up entertainment devices or lounge room PCs can be so much simpler than using a wireless network, but running cables to all areas of the home isn't usually convenient. That's where Ethernet over power line adapters co...

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
