Dell M109S portable projector

The tiny Dell M109S is a palm-size LED projector with a low brightness rating of only 50 lumens, which makes it best suited for very small groups in dark or dimly lit conference rooms. Even with its cables, AC adaptor, and carry case, the Dell M109S ...

Acer P3250 portable projector

If you're pinching pennies, the compact, 1.2kg Acer P3250 is the lowest-priced lamp-based, ultra-portable projector we've seen recently, and it has excellent image quality.

Nuance's OmniPage Professional 17 offers a variety of subtle but impressive enhancements over the previous version of this powerful, optical character recognition application.

Quality scanners offer easy image fixes

The new US$180 Canon CanoScan 8600F and US$149 Epson Perfection V350 Photo provide excellent tools for creating high-quality scanned images, even from bad originals. Both of these flatbed scanners are worthwhile, but the Canon's faster performance an...

Casio projector offers quality images

Road warriors, take heed: Casio's US$1699 Cassiopeia Pro Super Slim XJ-S35 is the thinnest business projector I've reviewed. A scant 1.7 inches tall by 10.6 inches wide by 7.8 inches long, this 3.9-pound, 1024-by-768-resolution (XGA) model is the siz...

The new IRIS Readiris Pro 11 optical character recognition software makes fast work of turning paper documents into electronic text files that keep the original formatting and design elements intact. IRIS has improved the app's OCR engine, and in our...

NEC LT35

Typically, portable projectors that weigh less than 3kg deliver only enough brightness for small-group presentations, but the potent NEC LT35 is an exception. This 2kg DLP model is rated at a whopping 3000 lumens, and it's powerful enough to use in l...

Canon LV-X5

The Epson Perfection 3490 Photo is the best bargain among value scanners we've reviewed lately. With its winning combination of great image quality, reasonable performance, versatile features, and a very affordable cost, the 3490 is an excellent choi...

CanoScan LiDE 25

The CanoScan LiDE 25 features the slim design we've seen in other Canon scanners that use the same type of Compact Image Sensor (CIS) technology. Because they use tiny LEDs (LiDE stands for LED Indirect Exposure) instead of standard lamps, these scan...

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Windows 10 / HP Spectre x360

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

Windows 10 / Lenovo Yoga 910

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
