Need for Speed: NITRO 10/11/2009 16:15:00

I dreaded my first race in Need for Speed: NITRO because I couldn't think of a more inconvenient way to drive than pointing the Wii remote forward and tilting it side to side, especially in a balls-to-the-wall arcade racer. The "street" imagery -- ridiculous car mods and an uncomfortable amount of bling -- didn't lift my spirits either. Then something happened as I started playing. There's a co-op career mode? And it plays like Mario Kart with cops? And I can paint profanity on the side of my Volkswagen van? Word, dawg. Word.

Need for Speed: SHIFT 29/10/2009 16:10:00

Obviously, simulation racing isn't the most organic evolution for the series. Sure, ProStreet had a dose of realism injected into it, but it wavered indecisively between circuit sim and arcade racer. So it's appropriate that the latest NFS title is called SHIFT because it's obviously trying to "shift" the franchise in a new direction.

    Borderlands 22/10/2009 16:35:00

Let's face it: the apocalypse has been done to death. Nowadays, everyone and their neighbor has some futuristic tale to tell, but this innovative title from 2K Games somehow manages to breathe some new life into a somewhat tired genre.

    Forza Motorsport 3 16/10/2009 16:20:00

Forza 3 inspired some mixed feelings in our reviewer Mitchell who thought that the game's slick modes and pretty graphics had a lot to offer but it somehow failed to keep him glued to the driver's seat. Read on to find out why, despite the game's obvious quality, he kept putting the controller down.

    Gran Turismo 06/10/2009 15:00:00

Even an endless list of cars can't compensate for Gran Turismo's shortcomings.

    DiRT 2 10/09/2009 10:41:00

DiRT 2 's slick menus and stylish presentation will wow you when you first boot up the game but you won't see the full breadth of the imaginative personality and original ideas until you hit the track. DiRT 2 's fantastic rally racing is where the brilliant balance of challenge, reward, diversity and progression combine to form a sublime game that leaves the trailing competition covered in sun-caked mud.

    Madden NFL 10 11/08/2009 13:50:00

Year over year Madden catches flak for recycling previous content into a repackaged roster update. Madden NFL 10 makes a concerted effort to change that perception with a suite of changes but don't freak out: this is still the same Madden you've come to adore. However, there's a noticeable focus on keeping you actively involved in the game and it's an effort that succeeds in spades.

    Battlefield 1943 14/07/2009 13:20:00

If I didn't know any better I'd have wagered a fat stack of cash that Battlefield 1943 was sold on real-life shelves in a real-life box. Instead, this Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network download boasts the quality of a full-blown retail game at an affordable price. Of course, since this is DLC, some sacrifices had to be made-this means no solo campaign and the lack of AI bots. But that just allowed DICE to focus on what the series is known for: kickass competitive multiplayer and balls-to-the-wall action.

    Overlord II 25/06/2009 15:15:00

The first Overlord was an overlooked adventure game that blended the best parts of Pikmin with the worst parts of the Bible. Casting gamers as a walking apocalypse with demon underlings, the delightfully cheery fantasy world gave the game a dark yet charming personality. Overlord II, recaptures the black magic, but problems old and new make it a disappointing sequel.

    Sacred 2: Fallen Angel 15/05/2009 11:50:00

It's easy to use "loot-lovers will adore collecting new gear while dungeon running in Sacred 2: Fallen Angel" as a cop-out answer to a simple question: should I play it? While the aforementioned statement is entirely true, making it more than worthwhile for numerous players, there are so many technical issues in this ported PC role-playing game that even die-hard dungeon crawlers will want to cautiously consider Fallen Angel's console version.

Wallace & Gromit: The Last Resort 09/05/2009 12:51:00

Wallace and Gromit return in their second of four episodic games, and while The Last Resort is significantly slower paced than its predecessor, it offers a more satisfying challenge by letting you play as detectives.
