    Sharp LC40LE835X 3D LCD TV 21/11/2011 16:00:00

Sharp has been quiet in the TV scene for the last year, after its initial push of Quattron LED TVs. While the company has kept up with most market trends (3D, 200Hz, USB ports) it hasn’t paid much attention to the swathe of video-on-demand and IPTV services becoming common in televisions from competitors. If these kind of services appeal to you you’d be best served looking elsewhere (or picking up another company’s Web-enabled Blu-ray player), but otherwise we have no beef with the new Sharp LE835X range.

HTC ThunderBolt 4G smartphone: Hefty but fast 22/03/2011 06:41:00

Even by the new standards of cell phone advertising, the run-up to the HTC ThunderBolt -- Verizon's first 4G LTE smartphone -- was elaborate and expensive. Gatefold ads in mass-market magazines and high-profile TV spots on the Oscars, NASCAR and college basketball all proclaimed that there was a new 4G phone coming from Verizon, but not much else. Inquiries made of HTC and Verizon were met with official shrugs. The company spent many millions of dollars advertising a phone and didn't tell anyone when it would be on the shelves.

    Gran Turismo 5 25/11/2010 12:00:00

I've been a huge, huge fan of the Gran Turismo racing series ever since it debuted back in 1997. I remember seeing the game a little earlier that year when I was working at IGN.com (before it was even called IGN.com), and I was absolutely blown away by its incredible graphics, large number of real cars, and the amazing racing experience it delivered.

7 programming languages on the rise 26/10/2010 00:51:00

In the world of enterprise programming, the mainstream is broad and deep. Code is written predominantly in one of a few major languages. For some shops, this means Java; for others, it's C# or PHP. Sometimes, enterprise coders will dabble in C++ or another common language used for high-performance tasks such as game programming, all of which turn around and speak SQL to the database.

Nvidia's GPU Tech Conference is evolving to have an even stronger emphasis on high performance computing than the past couple of years. Yes, there are token nods towards the consumer side of the business--Cyberlink is at the show, demoing 3D Blu-ray--but that's about it. Madden 09 & more EA Sports games going offline next month 05/01/2010 07:55:00

Earlier today, Destructoid discovered a list of games on EA's website that will lose online multiplayer support starting February 2. We've included the entire list below, but some of more notable games worth highlighting include last year's Madden game (Madden NFL 09), a few failed arcade sports games (Facebreaker and NFL Tour), and Tiger Woods 2007 on the PC, though I'm sure Tiger has bigger problems on his plate right now.

Ask.com bets on semantic search, targeting special audiences 03/07/2009 04:31:00

In the past eight months, Ask.com has unfurled a set of changes to its search engine that the IAC unit calls a success, although its share of U.S. search queries has actually shrunk during that time period.
