    Canon PowerShot A710 IS 08/11/2006 10:56:15

We recently looked at the first of Canon's new range of compacts, the [[prodid:2453]], but were a little disappointed, as it wasn't up to standard in several of our tests. Fortunately, with the Powershot A710 IS, Canon has done a much better job, continuing the Powershot line's reputation for being outstanding advanced cameras. This model offers great image quality, a robust feature set and lightning quick response times, making it an ideal all purpose device for the budding photographer.

    Panasonic TZ1 04/05/2006 11:00:38

The line "we've had a lot of 10X zoom digital cameras through the office lately" has cropped continually in our recent reviews. Most of these models are would-be clones of each other right down to the design and colour scheme (everybody knows Kodak and Olympus are in-cahoots!). Enter the Panasonic TZ1, a 10X zoom camera with a difference. What's so special about this model is that Panasonic have managed to cram that gigantic zoom into a body not much bigger than a standard compact model. Impressive? Yes.

    Panasonic Lumx DMC-FZ7 08/04/2006 11:00:41

To employ an already grossly overused cliche, size does matter. Being that you already know this is a camera review and that the site is family friendly, we can only be talking in relation to zoom (we know a few of you are closing the review in disappointment at this point). Recently we've had a rush of 10X zoom models through the office, so when Panasonic's latest advanced camera offering, the FZ7 waltzed into the office and trumped them all with its massive 12X lens, we couldn't help but take notice. Panasonic has generally provided some very competent advanced models, and whilst the FZ7 takes a decent stab at it, it falls down in a few key areas.

    Pentax Optio S5z 14/08/2005 12:25:22

Pentax's Optio S5z is essentially an upgraded version of the S55, which we have also reviewed on the site. For around $100 more you get a host of improved features that are definitely worth the extra money.

    Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8 12/08/2005 15:36:09

The handsome sibling of Panasonic's DMC-LZ2 model, the DMC-FX8 takes the good parts of that model and builds on them, creating a highly desirable and incredibly stylish camera. One of the smaller models we've reviewed in this category, it is built out of slick silver metal and is slightly smaller than a pack of cards. Despite its size, however, it manages to pack on a 2.5" LCD.

    Canon PowerShot A95 01/07/2005 17:42:04

There is something strange going on when cameras seem to get bigger as technology gets smaller. The A95 is a big camera. With batteries in, it tipped our scales at 350g, yet it only sports a 3X optical zoom and a 1.8" LCD. It's definitely not suitable for carrying in a pocket, and would likely double the weight of a small bag.
