    In-ear headphones have been taking off in recent years. What was once the domain of specialist headphone companies like Etymotic and Shure is now populated by the likes of Philips and Sony. With the Aurvana in-ear headphones, Creative has decided they want a piece of the canal-phone pie. For the most part they do a decent job and are definitely a step above your run of the mill ear buds, but they won't be adequate for audiophiles.

    It seems like everybody is jumping on the IEM (In Ear Monitor) bandwagon. Originally the domain of only high-end, specialist headphone manufacturers belonged to companies like Shure and now, in more recent times, we've seen IEMs hit the market from mainstream companies like Sony. Now Philips has joined the party with their SHE9700. Offering good but not exceptional sound quality, the SHE9700 will suit people after a small, portable, bass-heavy headphone solution.

    Up until now we haven't reviewed a pair of in-ear-monitor's (IEM - inner ear headphones) that compares to Shure's phenomenal [[prodid:2599]]. However, the time for a successor has finally arrived. Ultimate Ears new triple driver IEM, the Triple.Fi, is an absolutely fantastic pair of headphones. It offer a different, but no less impressive sound signature than the E500s and finally provides a worthy competitor for Australian audiophiles. The only issue is with its fit, but this is extremely dependant on the individual person.
