    Dell XPS 730x gaming PC 28/07/2009 13:10:00

Dell’s behemoth XPS 730x gaming PC is overkill. Two video cards, water cooling, a mammoth processor, 6GB of RAM and a garish full tower case combine to make a machine that will handle any recent game thrown at it, and its performance was excellent during our tests.

    Altech NRG Typhoon 08/12/2008 14:20:00

Around 10 years ago the concept of an overclocked retail PC was something associated only with dodgy dealers looking to sell a slower CPU for a higher price. It was generally frowned upon by non-enthusiasts, as components weren't as reliable when overclocked as they are today (anyone remember the Kryotech machine that used a fridge to overclock an 800MHz AMD Athlon to 1GHz?). With the Core 2 Duo, though, it's possible to ship reliable factory-overclocked PCs. Altech is taking advantage of this to give its customers more value for their money.

    Radeon HD 4850 02/07/2008 16:40:00

When it comes to 3-D gaming, ATI is finally beginning to retake ground from the all-conquering NVIDIA. With its recent dual-GPU boards getting the thumbs-up from gamers (Radeon HD3870 X2, EAH3870 X2 1GB etc.), and an aggressive pricing strategy that has left its competitor reeling, many punters are predicting a return to ATI market dominance. Whatever the outcome, it's definitely good news for consumers, with high-end graphics cards now shipping at mainstream prices. This brings us rather neatly to the ATI Radeon HD 4850: currently the most powerful mid-range graphics card on the market.

    Altec Lansing T612 20/05/2008 08:40:00

Although the market has been flooded with iPod and MP3 player docks that allow you to share your music with those around you, they don't typically work in conjunction with your mobile phone. However, if you own an iPhone, that's exactly what the Altech Lansing T612 does. It offers good quality sound (although it is extremely lively) and allows you to use your dock as a hands-free kit with your iPhone. You should note, however, that the implementation is not as good as it could be.

Altech Shuttle XPC Prima 05/11/2007 16:09:35

Altech has used Shuttle's XPC Prima case to create a funky small form factor gaming PC, which is ideal for LAN gamers who regularly need to move their PC around. It's a far cry from the typical towering case with the flashing lights design we're used to in gaming cases, which certainly adds some advantages, but it definitely has its flaws, too.
