The Kyocera Mita FS-1320D mono laser printer is unlikely to match the feats of the all-conquering Kyocera FS-C5100DN, but it's a very competitive and flexible printer for anyone who values reliable mono printing over all else.

Kyocera Mita's FS-C5300DN color laser printer is very fast, and its consumables have an extraordinarily low cost. It's well worth considering for a high-volume office's color needs--if the color is for pie charts and accents, rather than for good-quality photos.

The Kyocera Mita Ecosys FS-1350DN monochrome laser printer starts off at a disadvantage because its list price of $699 makes it appear a lot more expensive than it probably is in stores. But even at a better price, this entry-level printer would still be slow and offer mediocre graphics quality. So why consider buying it? Because of its extremely inexpensive consumables.

It was just over a year ago that Microsoft dropped a bombshell of a claim: users of Linux and open-source software were unwittingly violating as many as 235 Microsoft software patents.

For offices where space is at a premium, but large volumes of colour output are needed, Kyocera Mita's Ecosys FS-C5025N is a good option. It's fairly compact compared to other colour laser printers on the market and easy to maintain.

The Kyocera Mita FS-2000D is a double-sided monochrome A4 laser printer ideal for small to mid-sized business or departmental use. The printer boasts quality prints with 30 pages a minute output, 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution and 64MB of standard memory some of its features. Networking is not available out of the box however both wired and wireless networking with print server capability can be purchased.

Recent price cuts by printer vendors have sparked an increase in sales of single function mono laser printers in Q1, according to the latest figures from IDC.

Few manufacturers can match Kyocera for overall cost of ownership. The company's ECOSYS technology means this printer is quiet and low-maintenance. Add a price tag of $519 (including $145 toner cartridge) to the reasonable print speeds and quality output, and you have a personal mono laser worth attention.
