set up remote access thru a firewall

Hi,

I have a sonic firewall and a local area network at my workplace. I would like to access the network from home through remote desktop via internet via lan firewall. Could you please help me with this? Do I need to configure the firewall...and how ?
Thanks
Kathleen

Some danger here. If you open ports for your use, it won't take long for hackers to find them. Better to use a service such as DynDNS. Have a look at their site. System is very good. I have used it without incident for years.

I presume that sonic means SonicWall - If that is correct, SonicWall have a Global VPN client that allows a user to setup a VPN sesion with the Firewall & from there use RDP to access the lan. Check with your IT people, they should know whether the device installed has Global VPN licences & how these need to be installed

Have you considered this option?

This issue is nearly impossible to solve via correspondences on a message board.
I think you are better off installing some password protected remote access software and just using that. It will save you endless nightmares in configuration and should be a permanent fix.
