Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

I have recently downloaded return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Can this game be played single player without having to connect to the internet?

If not, how do you play online? I am unable to connect to a sever. There are no servers in the list to choose from. Where do I go from here to play this game? All I seem to do is run around by myself shooting at nothing. Please help.

Thanks.

Re: Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

Enemy Territory is multiplayer only, either lan or internet. For single player you need to get the commercial Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Be warned though, it is a totally different game to ET. Et is a enthusiast created mod for RTCW that ended up as a stand alone multiplayer game.

As for playing online you need a fast connection. Dial-up will not be playable.

As for being unable to connect to a server are they showing in the server list? If so you can only connect if they are public, are not full, your ping is low enough. Some game servers block anyone with a ping above a certain point, eg higher than 150m/s. What actual message are you getting when you try to connect to a server?

Single player is avaliable now!

Single player style games are avaliable but it requires a mod such as fritzbot. Fritzbot adds bots to games that you host. Unfortuanlly as this is a 3rd party mod it has not been fully refined and is only avaliable to be used on a handfull of missions. I have personally played my own fritzbot games and it is quite fun. Their difficulty cam be changed.
