won't play or read DVDs any longer

Running XP core2 duo 2g ram Asus DL burner.
I don't usually watch DVD on my PC (like 6-8 months ago last and then worked OK)when yesterday put in commercial dvd -Drive refused to read - claims disk not "compatible with windows" --1st message --next claimed that "no media in drive" . However 'diskmanager' shows disk and all content files. Any suggestions on what is happening? No virus or spyware showing on any antivirus or spybot.

Thanks
imi

DVD

We get this all the time or something similar. I think if we reinstalled the DVD drivers is worked on most DVDs again.
