Hi, Currently looking at buying a new laptop i dont know much about them though.
looking to spend around 1500-2300.
basically i want a laptop that will run new games so as higher specced as i can.
dont care about weight/battery life really.
other thing is i want to be able to hook it up via HDMI to my lcd tv to watch movies and that.

Dell XPS 16
the best thing you can get in that range is probably a Dell XPS 16. Wait for a deal when you can get at least 100 dollars off the model you want. The deals change about once every two weeks.
I would also consider waiting for windows 7 on october 22nd so you don't have to dick about with installing it.
