No Sound (2 posts)

I have just installed windows XP on my computer which runs an ASUS P4SGX-MX motherboard and I am getting no sound. When I check in windows it says there is 'no audio device' however I know the Motherboard has an on board soundcard so I am left a little confused as to why it doesnt recognise it. I have trolled the net endlessly looking for an answer and have cone up with nothing. I notice people referring to 'reactivating the onboard soundcard in the BIOS', however I cant see anywhere in the BIOS menu where this is located. I have turned it off and removed the battery, as someone suggested, hoping to reset it, but still nothing.

Does anyone have any answers?

The sound device probably needs a driver installed, this is usually obtainable from the motherboard manufacturer's website. There are probably other drivers available there as well which will allow the computer to function as designed. best of luck. Denis
