unable to move emails - Outlook 2003 (16 posts)

I have encountered a problem in that when an email is moved to a sub folder, and then later, I try to move it to another sub folder, I receive the message :

"Can't move the items. The item could not be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was denied"

If I close Outlook & re-open it, I can then move the email - but, having moved it - if I then try to move the same email, the error message is repeated. (this is applicable to any email....not just 1 specific email.)

Having scoured the web, I have noted various instance that others have encountered the same problem.....however every "fix" I try does not solve the problem.

Initially I tried "Detect & Repair Office".......then looked for a file without success (? only in Outlook 2000?)......found and ran a number of times on both the pst file & archived pst file......downloaded & installed MS Exchange per KB836993 & KB891572.........none of which has worked.

The pst file is ~ 1.1GB ; "deleted" items folder is emptied every day, retaining only the previous days "deleted emails".

The Add-ins shown are NOD32 Emon, Dymo LabelWriter, Echanfe extensions property page & Redemption Helper Outlook extension.

Comm Add-ins are BlueSoleil Outlook add-in & iTunes Outlook add-in.

Should anyone have run into this problem & knows a "fix" for it, I would be extremely grateful :->)

Redemption Helper Outlook extension appears to cause many issues, also BlueSoleil Outlook add-in looks to be typical of Nokia software (dubious). I would remove anything which was not originally part of Outlook and see how it goes then. If OK then, add back one at a time untill it plays up once more.

Thanks Chris. I have disabled the two add-ins.....but still the problem exists?? :->(

A co worker of mine had the same issue. After going to Outlook and Tools, Options, Preferences, Junk E-mail, and selecting No Automatic Filtering she is now able to move emails from one folder to the other. Good luck!

OK. There may be some damage to the PST, even though the tool suggests otherwise.

To check, with Outlook closed, copy the pst to another location and delete the original. Open Outlook. It will complain that the pst cannot be found and will create a new one - you will see a file open box with the filename showing as Outlook.pst, but no file in the window. Just click open and the file will be created.

Now add some folders, send yourself some test messages and move them around. Hopefully it is working better now. Do an import from the original pst to restore everything. This should leave any damage behind.

Thanks! I turned off the automatic filtering and it fixed the problem for me.
