Video Capture Card (7 posts)

Hi. My name is Robb Patterson and I have Windows Movie Maker 2.1 and would like to know the best video capture card for this particular software.

Thank you for your time!

Sincerely - Robb Patterson

You don't need one

Video capture cards are essentially a thing of the past, particularly with home and low-end stuff. Particularly when using something like Windows Movie Maker, there really is no need to have any equipment beyond the computer and the camera. Just plug the video camera into FireWire or USB depending on what it uses. If the camera is FireWire, you will probably have to capture the footage in real-time - basically pressing play on the camera and pressing record in Windows Movie Maker. If its USB, theres a good chance the video files are ready and raring to go, so you should just have to open the camera from My Computer, find the file and drag it to the Desktop or a folder you're using.

If you need anymore help, just ask :)

Wrong

Bad advice and totally incorrect. He didnt say he was using a firewire based device. In all likeliness, if he has to ask this question, he is most likely working with Super/RCA jacks which means he WILL have to get a capture card.

Yes and no. Without additional information, I can't really give absolutely correct information.
