Hi all
I've got a problem with my ADSL modem. It's a D-Link DSL 302G modem. On the manual it says it can connect two computer without a router. But when I tried it, it can't work. I have done the necessary windows network setup and am connected to optus. Help anyone? Thank you very much!

Re: ADSL modem
Connect to your modem at http://10.1.1.1 and click Advanced Network Setup and enable NAT. Follow instruictions. When done load the USB driver into one machine and connect it via USB and get it working first. Then connect the other machine via ethernet and it should work with (almost) no effort. If this becomes too hard then buy a network switch which usually allows you to connect 4 PCs to the modems ethernet port. You still need NAT set on the modem.

Re: ADSL modem
The specs on this router say it has 1 ethernet and 1 USB port so you will need to install the drivers on 1 PC to get it to talk to the router via USB.
Make sure you have both PC's set to DHCP to get an IP address from the router. Have you done this? No drive necessary for ethernet. Can you ping the router? click Start|Run and type CMD at the prompt type ping 192.168.0.? ,the ? = the network IP address of the router which should be in the manual.
Cheers
