Saving email embedded photographs (3 posts)

I am experiencing difficulty saving embedded (not attached) photos received in an email. When I attempt to do so, a dialog box pops up that instructs me to save the photo as an executable file. Haven't been able to find a program on my computer that will recognize the format of the photos even though they a jpeg.

I don't own MS Outlook or Outlook Express. I've tried Paint, PhotoShop, Internet Explorer, Firefox, FotoStudio, ZoomBrowser, Irfanview, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, PictureViewer, Winzip, MS Office Picture Manager, PowerPoint... well, you get the picture. Cannot find a solution on my own. Any suggestions?

Re: Saving email embedded photographs

The best way is to on the image and then use the 'Save as' option to save the file to your HDD.

If they ARE jpg files, Irfanview will definitely be able to open the files - There are also other free image viewing programs available - I believe that GIMP is also a good one to try.

Re: Saving email embedded photographs

What software are you using to view your email? Can you right click on the image? What options do you get in the dropdown menu? It seems as if you are getting something happening because you can tell that they are jpeg images. If you open a new Word document can you insert the image into the document? It's not easy do propose a solution without more details but I hope my questions point you in the direction of an answer.

Cheers
