.EXE file not recognised for burning (7 posts)

Hi all.

I have an LG Super Multi DVD/CD burner that runs with Nero 6.

In the past I have never had any problem is selecting files to copy off my HD and burn to a CD.

The other day I down-loaded a small 8 MB game from the net that came as an EXE file which I dutifully placed into a self created 'Quarantine' folder to Vet before burning it to a CD for a neighbours child to play on his PC.

It does not matter how much I tried, the file would not show up/be recognised in the Quarantine folder allowing me to burn it.

I moved the file to a number of other locations but Nero would not/could not see the file in that folder/s.

This has not happened before. I pointed Nero to recognise all files, from the drop down menu in the Nero program still no joy.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Not sure what is causing your problem, but what happens if you give it a different extension - say.doc. If that works, you can copy it to the neighbours hd then change it back. Also ensure that the file name is no longer than 8 letters and does not contain spaces or illegal characters.

Thanks Chris.

Problem solved. It looks like it may have ben the length of the name. I renamed it by adding a short description in front of the 'original' file name for identification purposes.

When I removed 'my addition' the file was recognised by Nero and the burn went well. Another lesson learned.
