Coby CV-160 headphones not working (3 posts)

I've got a pair of COBY CV-160 headphones that have stopped working. What is the best way to fix them?

a few things to try

Well, a good first step would be to plug them into another audio device just to see if they are in fact not working, and its not an issue with whatever device you are using. No sense trying to fix them if they aren't broken.

If the problem is your headphones themselves, you can try to fix them if you are up for it. Plug the headphones into a device you know works, and have it playing music or sound constantly. Then, wiggle the jack around, and work your way up the cord moving it around to see if the sound comes on.

If it does, then you know where the short is. If you cannot locate the short, then you may be out of luck.

If its near the jack, you could buy a headphones extending cable, and then cut into it and your headphones, and use then hook up the wires accordingly to replace the old jack with a new one.

If the problem is further up the line, you can cut into the cable carefully (don't make it worse by cutting through the other cables), and see if you can patch the break in the wires.

Hope this helps.

Buy a new pair

It's probably easiest just to buy a new pair. You could spend a lot of time playing around with them trying to get them to work when for a relatively low amount you can just get some new ones.
