Canon Powershot SD1000 lens Error (2 posts)

Here's a new problem:

My Camera now says "Lens Error Please Restart". And restarting it just says the same thing. It is a Canon PowerShot SD 1000 Digital Camera.

Help and thanks.

a couple of suggestions

Many people report the Lens Error problem. Sometimes debris or dust blocks the lens extension device. Sometimes the battery died with the lens extended, or it was dropped/damaged with the lens out.

If you have a warranty, then get it fixed under your warranty terms. If not, you could pay to have it professionally repaired, or try a few of the steps listed below:

1.Blow compressed air into the gaps around the lens mechanism to try and dislodge any debris that might be blocking it. 2.Take out the batteries and wait a few minutes, then put in new, fully charged batteries. Turn it back on. Try holding the OK or Function buttons while powering on. 3.Try the above steps, but also pull out the memory card and leave it out. 4.Plug in your A/V cables then turn the camera on. 5.Lay the camera flat, facing up. Hold the shutter button down and power it on.

If none of those steps work, you could try tapping the camera to try and dislodge any device, or try forcing the lens open or closed, but either of these steps could easily damage your camera.

Hope this helps.
