best power settings to leave PC ON 24hrs (2 posts)

Hi

What are the best power options for me? I hate loading/starting up my PC every morning, and like to have it on overnight for the back-ups and updates to run. I am energy conscious though, so what's the best power settings for me? Thanks.

The Best thing to do ,if you leave your PC ON for 24 hours, is bung on stuff like EIST and C-states as they save some power and find your self a low wattage (around 550w) power supply that has an 80 plus rating. Also have any graphics cards down clock and then bung it in sleep mode.

*Sleep mode (if you dont know what it is) turns everything off except the PSU and memory. So your GPU, CPU, Hard Drives, Optical drives etc are turned off. To get it out of sleep just hit a random key on the keyboard.
