Java Updates (5 posts)

Hi folks, I've been going through my PC removing any programmes I no longer use, and came across all these java updates: J2SE runtime environment 5.0 updates (4,6,9,10 and 11), Java 2 runtime environment SE v1.4.1_02, Java 2 runtime environment SE v1.4.2_04, Java 2 runtime environment SE v1.4.2_06, and Java(TM)6 updates (2,3,5 and 13). They take up an awful lot of hard disk space. Can any of these be removed? Perhaps keeping the most recent version/s?

As Alan has said, It is

As Alan has said, It is typically ok to remove older updates, however in any event where you are involved with specific web related activity such as (some) internet banking, web mail sites, or if you are build websites. It may be better to simply leave the updates in place.

They should be taking up to much of your HDD space anyways.

Hope this helps.

Java updates

Thank you Alan. Regards Anthony

Java updates

Thanks Micky, They actually are taking up a bit of space. I counted about 13 updates, averaging 110 Mgbytes each. If they're not needed, I'd rather have the space for something else. I'll keep the most recent updates as suggested by yourself and Alan and get rid of the others. We'll see what happens then. Thanks Anthony
