Re: New Hard Drive

Gerry,

I'm presuming that you've installed the new drive and had the drive recognised by your BIOS.

As 'Administrator' go into Control Panel/ Administrative Tools/ Computer Management/ Storage/ Disk Management and carry out the necessary functions.

Re: New Hard Drive

IDE or SATA? What OS? If XP and IDE, shut down, plug it in to the second (middle) spot on the HDD cable (Not the CD/DVD cable), check the jumper setting on the C drive, if cable select, set the new drive the same, if master, set the new drive to slave. Plug in a power connector and reboot. The new drive should appear. Right click it and select format. Select NTFS and Start. It will take a while. If the new drive does not appear, post back. Generally no need or value in partitioning a data drive, just organize it into folders.
