Game creation (4 posts)

I have been thinking for a while that I would like to create a game. I used to play a game called autoduel on the Amiga, you drove a car around with armour and guns destroying other cars and sellings goods between towns.

I would like to make something like this, no fancy graphics, no 3D environment just a simple overhead view type of game with basic graphics and a small number of colours.

What is the best language to use to program this type of thing? Is there decent game creation software out there that will help?

I realise that this is a large project. I used to write simple games for the commodore 64 in basic so I have a rough idea of what is involved.

Re: Game creation

Hi David,

FYI, a couple of editions of PC World this year have had games development programs on the cover CD. April's had 3dRad, and October's had DarkBasic.

Re: Game creation

If you have a big collection of older PC World mags, there was Blitz Basic on the July 2002 CD

Re: Game creation

Hi,

I've found Game Maker very easy to use, and also has a great gui.

Can be found at http://www.gamemaker.nl.
