ADSL router (3 posts)

I have recently bought a D-Link ADSL router with 2 computers running windows XP HE networked to it. The internet works fine on both computer but I cannot share files or the printer attached to one computer. I have used the XP network connection wizard multiple times. I have turned off firewalls to no avail. If I ping the IP address of the other computer it fails. Pinging the IP adress of the router works.

Frustration levels are rising and any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: ADSL router

The fact that you can't ping the other PC indicates the problem is in the router .... either in the switch part of it or the DHCP software in it that IP addresses.

Re: ADSL router

I have solved the problem as I was using a crossover network cable instead of straight through cable.
