How to network a Win 2008 Server And Win 7? (2 posts)

I'm trying to setup a test enviornment in Virtualbox with a Vista Ultimate host. The Enviornment will consist of 1 Windows server 2008 DC, 1 Windows 7 client, and 1 Windows XP Pro SP3 client. I've got all three quest OSs up and running as virtual machines. The server has two virtual NICs, one running DHCP (with NAT), the other with a static IP (with local network). The quest VMs both have a single virtual NIC using DHCP and DNS provided by the 2008 Server. My problem is, while I can access the internet from the server, I can't access the internet from either of the two clients. I'm able to ping the server from either client (and I'm getting DHCP and DNS from there), but if I run a tracert from either of the clients, it gets as far as the local NIC on the server and no further. What am I missing?

You have what is basically a lan on the virtual nic's. You are using the server to supply dhcp and it also supplies the normal dns. It does not in this setup yet allow nat across the two server nic.s with routing and remote access. You have to either setup routing and remote access on the server or change the way the clients get dhcp by virtualbox or change the adapter type in virtualbox.
