Network profile problems (3 posts)

I have a laptop which i use wirelessly at home and at university. At uni, i have to have automatic assign for tcp/ip properties of the wireless connection in order to connect via VPN.

At home i have to manually enter in the IP, gateway and DNS due to the way the network is set up.

I've tried making a new wireless connecton but it just replaces my existing one. I've also attempted to add a new tcp/ip to the wireless connection, both attempts did not work.

Please suggest a few simple ideas to stop the need to constantly re-type my information. I do not want to make multiple windows XP account users though.

Thanks for your time

Re: Network profile problems

If you have an intel Wi-fi card, download their connection management software from intel's site. Have you tried creating a new connection profile under a different name?

Re: Network profile problems

Hi John

Yes, I think you can setup "Hardware Profiles" which then can be chosen at boot up, look up "Hardware Profiles" in windows help.
