W98 SE, Outlook Express 6.0

I had over 1000 email messages for a while in my 'clunky' Outlook Express 6.0 inbox and one day when I clicked the inbox icon, the message list pane displayed no messages. My hard drive was almost full with about 4GB left out of 20GB.

I then clicked on Send/Receive and I received 'new' emails. Rebooted and accessed express but only the 'new' emails were displayed in the message list pane. Can I 'restore' my previous 'lost' 1000.

You may have accidently renamed the inbox folder. Do a search for all .dbx files on you system to see if this is the case. Also look for files in the folder where your other .dbx files are which may have your data.

Thanks - search found all *.dbx. So I now can "open with" Outlook Express.
