Norton Antivirus subscription renewal pop-up (6 posts)

My virus subscription with Symantec for my Norton Antivirus has just expired, but I have no intention of renewing it just yet. However, a renewal pop-up prompting me to renew appears on my screen every time I turn on the computer, and there is no way of turning it off. I used Ask Symantec but they told me the only way to turn it off is to uninstall the whole program!

Is there a less drastic method?

Re: Norton Antivirus subscription renewal pop-up

Chris,

I would think that the reason that the pop-up appears is that Norton are remiding you that your system MAY be UNPROTECTED and subject to attack from new viruses.

Do you want that?

I would suggest uninstalling NAV and installing a free antivirus program. You will probably get a performance boost and heaps more hard drive space by getting rid of NAV bloatware.

Try AVG antivirus. It's smaller, it's free and it has free updates.

I know this is old but I definitely agree that going free is an alternative worth considering. I am paying for my antivirus and I'm very happy with it but there are so many free offerings you will likely find a sufficient one.

I did not renew and you took the money out of my account please return it
