I now have a reliable wireless network running between 2 PC's both using Windows XP in Peer to Peer mode.
However to run games on this LAN is seeming to prove impossible. I have tried to run Battlefield 1942, Medal of Honour, C&C Generals and I either get the message "cannot find server" or "connection has timed out" although the list of games to connect to always shows the correct detail of the game available and always shows the correct computer names and IP addresses.
I have tried EAGAMES support but have had no luck.
Many Thanks
Barry

Re: Wireless LAN and Game Connection
If they are on the same subnet mask and in the same IP range they should find each other,
Check your TCP-IP network settings on both PC`s Turn off your firewall software if you have any running.
Also make sure you can see each others PC in your network neighborhood this will confirm Wally Windows settings are correct.
Try and have your IP address close to each other
eg
192.138.0.100 and 192.138.0.101
Ping each PC to make sure you get a response from a command prompt

Re: Wireless LAN and Game Connection
Thanks very much Gus, it seems it may have been the IP adresses used those suggested and it now works fine with every game except C&C Generals.
I think I've tried everything with that, however we don't play that much anyway.
Thanks Again

Re: Wireless LAN and Game Connection
Generals may need legal and unique copies of the game running on each machine. I believe that after you negotiate the lobby screens it checks the code (that is used during the install) during the game and at commencement and if these are the same. It will crash.
MOH does not require a unique code.
Better luck
Trevor.
