Building and Setting up a PC Home Entertainment Centre (3 posts)

I am looking to build a PC home entertainment centre. I am trying to find the best way to go about this. I want to set up a PC with a Digital TV tuner to run through my 42" plasma. I have an idea of the specs that I want.

The problem is with the internet. I currently have a D-Link DSL-G640T Wireless G ADSL Modem Router which is connected to my telephone line. The telephone jack is on the right of the room about 5m away from the TV and where the new PC will be located. Our floor boards are polished wood and I do not want to run cables from the telephone jack to the PC. I would prefer a wireless connection. I believe that I should be able to use the D-Link and have a wireless modem in the PC. I am just a little unsure as to how this will effect the running of the TV tuner or the internet if it or no PCs are connected to the modem/router. Can anyone give me advice on how I can best go about setting this system up without incurring great expenses?

The TV tuner is getting its signal through the air from the TV station, and the wireless card in the entertainment centre will be talking wirelessly to the modem/router in the corner of the room, but they operate on completely different frequencies. Like radios and TVs do. They won't affect each other in any way.

Depending on whether its an outside wall the entertainment centre backs up to you could get an installer to put a second phone point right there where it is, and plug the modem/router into that socket instead. That costs money, but it saves putting a wireless network card in the entertainment centre PC, and it saves all the hassles of setting up a wireless connection.
