Hello, I am trying to decide between the Panasonic Plasma TH-P50V10A and the Samsung 46inc Series 8 LCD/LED. I prefer the plasma as it is the right size and appears to have excellent picture quality. I was told by a couple of sales people though that if I have a birght room, then I should not go for a plasma, but a LCD or LED as the plasma is only good for dark rooms. Our lounge are is relatively bright with large windows and no blinds just sheer curtains. Does anyone have any advice on this?? Thanks very much
Plasma or LCD for a bright room (10 posts)
I personally have found that our LCD works really well in a well lit room (2 year old 46" Sony Bravia X Series), but I understand the plasma technology has come a long way with screen filters and what not to minimise the difference noticed in a bright room.
I am also a big fan of the new V series Viera Plasmas. We have a 58V in a dark room and it is nothing short of incredible!
Good luck!
Plasma or LCD for a bright room
Read all the info regarding the two technologies etc and really was still no wiser. Then Bauhn had a 46" LCD going for the right price through ALDI with a good warranty so thought why not take a chance? Best decision I've made in a long while. Reasonably bright area and great picture quality. Very happy. Martin Green
If your room is only relatively bright, I wouldn't worry about going with the Plasma. Although the glossy bezels on consumer models bother me. You might think about the Panasonic TH50PH12UK and PF12UK. No nonsense, built like a tank, much more control of picture, last forever, its a Pro TV. Also if the room is very bright, consider the Samsung 460DXn-2 which is engineered for the brightest of areas. Professional > Consumer
plasma vs lcd
Bought high priced panasonic plasma tv 2 yrs ago for bright lounge room. No hope of watching tv without blinds closed during day. Night picture is perfect. Wouldnt go with plasma again unless for media room
Just bought a Bauhn 47 inch lcd television from Aldi.Easy to set up and fantastic picture. For 799 dollars,it is one of the better things we have ever bought.
