Moving/copying files from one computer to another. (2 posts)

I recently installed a network card into a second computer and it is connected to the internet via my modem/router. So both are online together.

I want to copy or move files from one to the other, but don't know how to do it.

Some help and advice would be much appreciated.

Re: Moving/copying files from one computer to another.

It varies. It would be useful to know what OS you are running. Essentially, the PC's must be in the same workgroup, and file sharing must be enabled. If the router is a router, then it should be able to provide IP addresses. Check this by opening a command window and typing ipconfig. If you get something like 192.168.0.1 then all is well, if you get 0.0.0.0 then it ain't happening. More details please.
