Disable integrated graphics (3 posts)

I recently installed a HiTech 64MB GeForce2 MX400 (PCI) W/TV-Out. It installed without a problem and I am enjoying much improved framerates.

My old Sis620 (SiS6306 integrated graphics) drivers are uninstalled in windows and the GeForce2 is the only adapter recognised. However, in the BIOS, I can find no option to disable it. As such, 4MB (reduced from 8) is still shared with the integrated card. It doesn't mean much, as I have plenty of RAM. However, I would like the SiS card to be completely uninstalled with no RAM shared as it will never be used again. How can I disable it in the BIOS? My computer is as follows:

Compaq Presario 5356 with AMIBIOS Ver. 1.17
Intel Celeron 433 MHZ
288MB RAM 1X256MB 1X32MB
80GB Hard Drive
48X24X48 Liteon CD-RW
(graphics mentioned above)

Re: Disable integrated graphics

Hi Nathan

Go to the Compaq web site, find and download the Manual for your computer and read it. As there maybe a switch on the motherboard to disable it.

Re: Disable integrated graphics

Hi Nathan,

Sounds like your Presario 5356 shares a problem with my Presario 7400. I did a lot of research, and found that not only can't you disable it in BIOS, but there's no jumper or switch on the motherboard to do so either.

Trying to do gaming on these machines is a frustrating and pointless venture. Mine is dedicated to Internet Connectivity, which is what it was designed for.
