Hi,
I have successfully networked (Internet, e-mail, file and printer sharing) a WinXP computer with a Win98 computer. My question is this: Is the Client computer (in this case the Win98 computer) protected by the Firewall & AntiVirus programs on the Host computer (WinXP computer)? I am the only user of both computers.
Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Re: Firewall Protection
The client computer is NOT fully protected.
The firewall on the server protects both computers.
But the anti-virus software gives at best partial protection, and at worst no protection, to the client. The client might be at least partially safe for internet access, but you should not run an e-mail client on it.

Re: Firewall Protection
Answer is no. You must install the programs on the client also. To clarify, there is no check of passthrough packets as this arrangement is a function of your networking, and the host PC is not involved.
