Hi, I have 2 computers that are networked together and worked fine until I installed this programme called Game XP which is a programme for tweaking the PC. I didn't like it so I pressed a button that is supposed to return my computer to the old state. After that I found out that I can no longer share the files between 2 computers.
The 'hand' sign that indicates that the drive is shared had disappeared. When I tell my computer to share the drive it says 'An error occured while trying to share C. The server service is not started. The shared resource was not created at this time.' Somehow I can still play network games between the 2 computers. How do you fix this problem?

Re: The server service is not started
Prin,
Have you tried starting the Server service? That may work.
I can only remember getting this error on a corrupt installation of Windows NT4.
What operating system are you using?

Yes, basically I wanted to know how to start the Server service. I use Windows XP Pro on both computers.

Re: The server service is not started
Prin,
Right click "My Computer", click Manage. On the right side double click on Services and Applications, then double click on Services. Scroll down until you find the Server service, then right click on it and click Properties, then click the Start button (the one inside the Properties window) and set the Start Up type to "Automatic" and click OK.
Regards,
Daniel

I tried the above and "Server service" is not listed in the "Services" folder". How do I get it to show up there?
Dell Lattitude 610 (laptop) running WinXP Pro
Thanks
