HelpScreenLoginWoe (4 posts)

g'day all - To get into PC World Help Screen, I have to resort to the 'one-time' login process every time. Password is not remembered, from the moment I change it. Perhaps the problem is with the User Name, but there seems to be no facility to check it let alone change it. Anyone know what I'm on about ... and has a solution? thanks - Jay

It all depends on the browser you're using. If you're using Firefox when you first enter your user name and password Firefox opens a kinda toolbar which offers to save the information you've entered, just click it and your details will be saved. The same goes for Chrome browser. Dunno about IE, don't use it and wish I could rip it out. Roll on the EU version of Windoze 7 where I have the option of choosing a browser and excluding IE.

Browser culprit?

Anonymous - I didn't think the browser would be the culprit. I don't get a request to save the password - in any case, it's my rule not to allow Windows or anything else to save passwords. It could be my user name that's the problem. When initiating the "forgot password" process, I tried inputting my user name rather than my email and it said it wasn't recognised...but changing or even seeing user name is not an option in "edit profile". I notice that the password quickly dissapears from the field - this is probably normal and indeed desirable. But if it's not normal, then it's not being saved and hence the ongoing problem. But if that's the case, why just me and not others?

I'll either continue using the laborious 'one time' login process or re-register with another email address and see if it that works. thanks again for your time. Jay PS: I presume what you mean by "have the option", is that Windows will no longer deny downloads of its sotware if you are using a browser other than IE ? This would be a good thing.
