I have had problems with a recurring virus "Vundo" on one of my computers. Time and time again I use "VudoFix" to remove it, also Nortons AV (both in safe mode) but it comes back. So far I have been reluctant to touch the registry to correct it.
I have been referred to a program that creates a bootable CD and possibly to repair from this. I do not know this program and a Google search shows a lots of sites offering downloads but no endorsements from a reputable site.
Can you advise please?
thanks,
Bill Holland

Re: Vundo virus
Spybot Search and Destroy, new version 1.5.2 now available at www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
USE the Tea-Timer function for activate protection!
And Grisoft AV-7 from Grisoft.com plus ZoneAlarm from ZoneLabs.com
All are free and work well. DUMP the Norton AV today!
And DON'T play with the Registry!
If Vundo is there, AVG-7 or Spybot will find it and fix it, and it should never bother you again.
So here's your endorsements from a reputable site!
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: Vundo virus
William,
This could be re infesting via your System Restore if you are using XP. If you close System Restore then run your AV program as normal hopefully it should be gone.
Remember to restart System Restore afterwards.
(System Restore is accessed through Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools. On the left side is a link system restore settings to get you to the tick box to turn off restore)
