Having the same problem as John from Adelaide. Can not change my home page because the section is greyed out. Even after uninstalling IE 5.5 and re-installing IE 6.0.

Re: IE V5.5 Home Page setting is greyed out

Thanks to all for the groovy effort!

I have fixed my Win 98SE IE V5.5 Home Page setting and Security Tab Custom setting level button which were both greyed out/inactive, by the following thanks to Phillip Thomson and Russ Wade.

By going to Start/Run; enter "REGEDIT" The registry editor opened. Scroll down to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftInternet ExplorerControl Panel

if you see [HomePage "1"] - delete it. (I also deleted CusSec "1")and all was well!
