I have Grand Theft Auto 3 installed on my computer and it freezes about 2mins into gameplay? GTA 3's minimum recommendations are 450MHz, 96mb Ram and a 16mb Video Card and the Recommended requirements are 800MHz, 128mb Ram and a 32mb Video Card. I have got Windows 98SE installed on my computer and have a AMD Duron 800MHz with 256mb Ram and a Geforce 2 MX 200 32mb Video Card.

Can you tell me what might be wrong with the game freezing?

Hi Jay,

Have you got the correct version of DirectX installed?

Are your graphics card and sound card drivers up to date?

Have you installed the patch that has been released for GTA3?

One of these may be your problem.

You could also try uninstalling the game, defragging your hard drive and then reinstalling. That may help.

Whatever your problem proves to be, if you wish to play current games you should replace your video card with a GeForce 4 MX400 - they're cheap and they'll do the job much better.

I have got the lastest version of Direct X.

I have updated my sound and video card drivers.

I have uninstalled and defragged and non of these works.

Whereabouts do you get the latest patchs for it from?

I was thinking of getting a new Leadtek Geforce 4 64mb video card for about $170. Thanks for the help and if you could tell me whereabouts the patch is it would be appreciated?

You should find a URL for the game's website in the documentation that came with it. Also you may have a shortcut to the website in your program menu, or on the game disc.

If you have a pirated copy and no documentation, shame on you! You'll have to do a web search to find it. I use the Google Toolbar and it's the best friend I have when I want to find things.

Sorry I can't be more specific but I haven't got the game, and can't remember where I saw the patch.

VG is not alone now... I registered at older ones also, some are better than it, I guess.
