Howdy.

I have a laptop, Vaio pcg-grx415mp. Its video card is a Radeon mobility with 36mb video memory. I want to know if its possible to upgrage this, and if so how to. I'm using this as a games machine and I'm running out of room. Battlefield 2 needs 128mb video memory, Doom 3 needs 64mb :(

Well I did buy a laptop, and I do want to uprade, so if anyone does have any genuine contributions I would be grateful. Its a little hard to haul a full size desktop around europe, to Nepal, India and here again, although if anyone knows how to do that I would be grateful for their contributions :)

I admit to being more used to desktops, but surely clever people fiddle with laptops. As I said in my original post, I just want to know if its possible, and if so how?

In a simple answer NO, 99.9% of the laptops out there the video CPU is part of the motherboard and soldered on to it so there is no way to upgrade it. Alienware has an upgradable video card on several of their top end gaming laptops but that is it. That is why if you want to "game" on laptops you need to "spend lots of mopney"- about $2900.00 or more.

Gordon gives very good advice and he did not refer you to Sony. I did.

This applies to all people seeking advice here. If you dont like the advice don't reject it as trivial or attack the person giving it else you may eventually have to sort out out your own problems. That would be terrible, wouldn't it?
