I have two computers networked. Computer “A” has an older printer on LPT1. Computer “B” has a newer printer on an USB connection.
I can print on the older printer of computer “A” from computer “B” but cannot print to the newer printer on USB from computer “A”. The option in the print dialog box simply isn’t there.
Both computers have File and printer sharing enabled.
Zone Alarm is disabled and so is Windows XP firewall. Can you explain by what mechanism this “one way only” printing comes about?
Thank you

Re: Printer sharing
Unless you first 'install' computer b's printer on computer A, it won't simply turn up.
First, make sure the printer is shared.
Then on computer A, go to printers and faxes. Click Add a printer.(Make sure B and the printer are on).
Select a newtork printer. Browse to computer B and its printer. Then the rest is pretty straight forward. When you are prompted about a security risk and do you really want to install... click yes.
It may seem to hang for a minute or two at one stage, just be patient. When it is done, you should be able to print!
Good Luck

Re: Printer sharing
I agree with Ollie, and make sure any firewalls are turned off while the printer drivers are installed...this may take more than several minutes.
