Medal of honour pacific assult (6 posts)

Hi,

I have just had a new motherboard (AMD Sempron 939A8X-M) and AMD 3300+ 64bit processor installed. I installed Medal of Honour pacific Asault which went smoothly, but when i click on the game icon to play, the computer restarts itself. Hope you can help me solve this problem.

Thank You David.

PS I'm running Win Xp pro,512M,40gig HDD

Re: Medal of honour pacific assult

Presumable you clean installed XP at the same time? If not, there is the problem. Too many radical hardware differences.

Thanks for your reply Chris, I'm not sure if a clean install was done. I didn't do it, I had a Tech install everything. Can I just reinstall windows over the top?

Thanks once again

David

Re: Medal of honour pacific assult

Check first - installing XP over itself is not as simple a process as it was with 98. You will lose installed programs so generally a data save and clean install is the preferred option. Did the game run OK before the upgrade?

The game worked fine before.

Re: Medal of honour pacific assult

I have also experienced spontaneous reboots. WinXP is not as bulletproof as they would like us to believe.

I suspect, for me, that it could be related to faulty RAM. The Memtest 86 program that was on a recent PC World CD could be useful to you. The program did identify a faulty section in a 512Mb stick of PC3200 DDR400 RAM and I promptly took the stick back to the vendor at the next computerfair.

I also suspect something in my video subsystem but its difficult to be precise.

Since fixing the RAM the spontaneous reboots have reduced and stopped .... touch wood.
