Hi,

I recently installed Battlefield 1942 and whenever I try to play it, it comes up with the main picture and it goes back to the Windows 98 page and I have tried the EA Help and they told me to check DxDiag. Well I tried that and it came up with one error that said: Failure at step 5 (Get Device Caps):HRESULT=ox8876086a(3D not available).

I tried another game that had worked before and it didn't work either. I tried installing Direct 3D from microsoft.com but it still didn't work even though I succesfully installed it.

What do I do? I don't want to have to return it.PLEASE HELP!=

I would say you will need to reinstall up to 3 things:

First - uninstall your games
then - your video driver for your graphics card! Nvidia or GL which ever one you use.
then - direct x 9
then reinstall your games

For me did not work because of direct x9.
