MFC with fax (5 posts)

I need to replace my MFC in a hurry. I do a lot of printing in both B&W and colour, send and receive faxes and would like to be able to scan photos and the occasional document. Can't afford to buy a laser but want something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to maintain. I would appreciate any recommendations for under $400. Must be easy to set up as I am a technophobe with no interest in technology other than I want my equipment to do what I want it to do without any hassles. Thanks.

If you can stretch your budget a little further, I would suggest something like the HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless or on the lower end, something along the lines of the Brother MFC-490CW. The HP will serve you better in terms of running costs in the long term and has much faster print speeds.

bite the bullet - go laser

you are going to kill yourself with ink running costs...bite the bullet and get something by Xerox. IMHO they are the market leader when it comes to cost effective print management and fax capability.....failing that samsung have a few products that are quite well warranted and do a decent job

If you current MFC can still do scanning/fax then you might want to consider a simple laser printer like the Samsung CLP-315, the consumables are reasonable and comparable to inkjet ones. The printer costs between $200-$300.

MFC

What about the Samsung MFC- CLX 3175? A colour laser for $500. Getting good reviews, I'm going to order one.
