Graphic Tablet HELP (1 post)

I sketch floor plans on-site and then have to scan the image into the computer and digitise it using Illustrator. What I would like to do is minimise the workload(Dont we all) Essentially, I would like to replace the need for paper and pencil, and be able to use a 2mm graph template to draw straight onto a tablet and the lines are straight! otherwise the point is lost.Does anyone know of a program the i can do this with?? Any PC suggestions would be great!
