Hello
I was wondering if anyone out there can help me. I have a Dlink 650 Wireless PCMCIA Adapter and a Zonet USB Wireless Adapter. Being the struggling student i am i could not afford an Access Point. Both adapters are 802.11b standard
My problem is the Dlink Card only sends 8 packets and recieves 0 and the Zonet Adapter sends anywhere between 12 and 6000+ packets and recieves 0. I dont have WEP configured as of yet and Windows reports the link strenth is high to excellent.
My question is: What the hell is going on??? Does anyone have a solution??
Thanks
- Marc

Re: Wireless woes
Hi Marc.
If the D-Link card you mention is anything like the D-Link DWL-G520+ Adapter cards then you have got your work cut out for you.
The D-Link Aussie site has got jack all online support for there products and if you are using Windows XP then this Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB871122 might be of some assistance as it dribbles on about disabling the Zero Configuration Utility and so on.
This is another site that might solve some of your woes

or
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Larry%20Foley/Desktop/WireSetup/dlink.htm
For some reason the DWL-G520+ cards just cut out at will and you have got a devil of a job to re-enable them.
I`ve even used drivers from both Linksys and USRobotics as suggested by other disgruntled users and although managed eventually to get a stable connection the connection speeds were greatly reduced.
Maybe someone out there has got the solution to or woes and has wrestled with this problem before, if so it would be nice to hear from you before I take my purchase back for a refund.
Keep trying Marc.

Re: Wireless woes
You need as access point, this is what enables communication between the two cards. You need the configure a wireless domain on the access point and call it something and then the cards will connect through it. The Access Point must be connected via CAT 5 to a switch or hub with ip config ect.
