I ran a security check on Symantec web site and received a comprehensive report. The scan report said that I have a half a dozen opened ports (that should not be open) and am therefore exposed to the risk of hacking attack.
This is not very helpful as it says nothing about how to close those ports. Can anyone help please?
Cheers, Roly

Re: Symantec Security Scan
Roly,
A good firewall that is set correctly should suffice.
Try: http://www.pcpitstop.com/ where you can carry out performance checks and I seem to recall that they will also check your security settings.

Re: Symantec Security Scan
Hello Roly,
You could try http://www.grc.com/default.htm Scroll down to Hot Spots and then use first their ShieldsUp! - this will show any and all ports that are open on your PC and, if I recollect correctly, suggest remedial action you can take if warranted. Second, run their Leak Test. This shows how effective your firewall is. I was surprised to find that the Windows firewall can be breached - as a result I changed to the free version of Zone Alarm.
Warm regards, Roley. Brisbane.
