Hi, I am having some trouble setting up sharing my printer.
My laptop is connected directly to my wireless router (Belkin dual band a+g wireless router) and my other computer (inbuilt wireless lan) is connected wirelessly to the router. My printer (Brother MFC-3240C) is connected to my desktop computer via usb. The problem is that i have gone to printers and faxes and enabled the printer for netwrok sharing, but it is not found when printing from laptop. How do i print from my laptop?
Thanks.

Re: PRINTER SHARING
You still have to install it on the laptop. Add Printer - Network Printer - Browse - etc.

Re: PRINTER SHARING
I think you have to make sure both computers are part of the same WORKGROUP. (peer to peer networking). This is what I do at home. Then, on the machine your printer is connected to, apart from turning on file and print sharing, share the actual printer - with a share name (Find the printer in "My Computer", right click on it and select "Sharing and Security"). Then you will have to install the print driver on your second computer(laptop). When identifying the actual printer on your second computer, you can find it through network neighbourhood and create a link to it as your default printer- hence the workgroup setup.
There may be an easier way, but this works flawlessly for me.
P.S. You must have your desktop machine turned on to print aswell, and when setting up your laptop.
Good Luck,
Matt.

Re: PRINTER SHARING
Hi,
I assume you have winXP SP2?
Have you enabled file & print sharing in the MS Firewall? This is in the exceptions tab- check to see if box is ticked. Also has the printer got the hands ICON under it? This indicates the printer is being shared.
Hope this helps
