Calidad ink for the Epson C67 Printer (9 posts)

I've recently bought a Calidad black ink cartridge for my Epson C67 printer. However, I've had a problem with using this alternative ink cartridge.

Whenever I print something, the printout has lines going through the text and images where black ink is used. Using the "Head Cleaning" function of the printer, the printouts after that are fine. However, once I leave the printer and print something else the next day, the problem reoccurs and I have to use the head cleaning function again. This uses up a lot of ink, so I want to know if this happens a lot or its just a rare case? I was planning of totally switching to Calidad inks since its cheaper than the Epson Genuine inks, but if its problematic then it doesn't help me.

Can someone help me? What should I do? Should I get another Calidad ink cartridge and see if there are problems with that? I'd prefer not to spend large amounts of money on the expensive Epson inks.

Cheers

Danny,

I'd suggest perhaps another generic type cartridge. It MAY be just the fault of the CURRENT cartridge but?

I have an Epson and buy generic cartridges on eBay at possibly ½ of the real ones. I even buy genuine on eBay at sometimes ½ the price.

Have a whinge to Calidad, sent them a print and see what happens.

Better yet, I believe you'll find that your cartridge is faulty. It sounds like when they put the ink in they didn't reseal it properly, or that it's not in your printer quite right.

First, I'd try taking it out and looking for obvious leaks. Then put it back in, do what you do to make it misbehave. Print a few sample pages, write out the steps you went through, then give Calidad a call.

They are usually more than happy to assist. The fact that you have written what the problem is will mean you will have the answers to the questions that they are yet to ask (when put on the spot, or asked a question to an answer I dont know, it tends to throw me off rail). They will probably send you a replacement within 1 or 2 days.

The reason alot of people buy Calidad range is because they can save up to 80% off the genuine price. I do.

Re: Calidad ink for the Epson C67 Printer

After advising Calidad of my problem, they sent me a free replacement cartridge and also a set of glossy photo papers. I hope this goes well, otherwise I'll go back to using the genuine ones. I guess you sometimes get what you pay for.

Calidad ink cartridges

Thanks for providing the address for Calidad. I had emailed them 27/4/2010 and no one returned my email (help@calidad.com.au). I ended up going to Dick Smith's and buying some original Epsons as the Calidad inks which used to work in my Epson TX1000 no longer worked and I would receive a error message saying it did not recognise the ink cartridges. I phoned Calidad this morning after seeing your post and once again installing a Calidad which was not recognised and the nice lady at Calidad advised that Epson had done a software upgrade and that any Epson machine would no longer recognise a cartridge other than the genuine article. Calidad have now over-ridden this and the new cartridges are supposed to work. She is posting me out a free set of ink cartridges and told me to keep the box they come in so I can recognise which ones to purchase in the future as some places may still be selling old stock. When the Calidad's used to be recognised by my machine, they were great. Same quality print for only half the price. Let's hope the new ones work. Jo

Why I am stopping using Calidad

Epson put out an objective test saying that Calidad inks are too unstable for printing photos that you want to last. The tests indicate Calidad fade after 1 year whereas Epson last for about 40 years before starting to fade. In addition, my latest batch of Calidad don't print properly and the print heads aren't cleaning properly. Probably a poor batch but, given that similar quality control problems have affected others also, I have decided that it's not worth using inferior inks any more. It is clear that these inks are bunging up the print heads and I'm just hoping that reverting to the proper Epson cartridges will clear this up. The stuff on the Calidad packaging about warranties and not invalidating the Epson warranty are clearly not worth the paper they're printed on. And, no, I don't want replacement inks that work from Calidad. I have a good printer and want to keep it that way.
